The Dream's Facilitator:The Chi Mei Corporation

Founded in 1960, the Chi Mei Corporation was Taiwan's first manufacturer of acrylic and ABS resin. To date, it has amassed more than fifty proud years of production and technical research and development in plastic materials including ABS resin, PMMA resin, and light guide plates. Chi Mei is presently the world's largest supplier of all three and thus plays a pivotal role in the supply chain of electronics and livelihood industries. The Chi Mei Corporation, in addition to pursuing stable growth, also pursues genuine reciprocity with its suppliers to ensure a mutually-beneficial shared prosperity. It has a unique operations philosophy nurturing a very special corporate culture dedicated to fostering happiness and engendering mutual trust. Due to its generous range of employee benefits, the corporation has for many successive years enjoyed the enviable sobriquet of ‘Best Company to Work For’.

For many years now the Chi Mei Corporation has taken to heart the words of its founder, Wen-long Shi, who said that “a company is a means to pursuing happiness.” It has done so while assembling human, physical, and financial resources in the realms of culture and medical treatment to bring about spiritual and somatic happiness and good health for all. In succession, the group has established several nonprofit organizations, including the Chi Mei Culture Foundation, the Chi Mei Hospital, the Tree Valley Foundation, and the Chimei Museum Foundation. Furthermore, it has redeployed its own properties and buildings to house and operated the former Chimei Museum and provided access to the public completely free of charge. Over the past 20 years and more, Chi Mei's entire corporation of employees, from the ground floor to the top office, has collaborated to proactively implement the concept of giving back to society and facilitate today's Tainan Metropolitan Park Chimei Museum.
